OUR STORY

I was born and raised in Onalaska, Washington, where my family has been in the logging community for generations. I grew up around heavy equipment—climbing into my dad’s dozer any chance I got. While most kids were riding bikes, I was out back building dirt bike tracks, learning early what it meant to move dirt and shape something from nothing.  After high school, I earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from St. Martin’s College. I had plans to go into the medical field, but the truth is—I was always meant to work with dirt, machines, and the outdoors.

In 2004, I married my high school sweetheart, and we have two daughters, born in 2006 and 2008. When a wrist injury ended my racing career in 2006—the same year our first daughter was born—it forced me to pivot, but it also gave me the opportunity to build something of my own for my family.

That same year, I started this company with a pickup, a trailer, and a mini excavator. No shortcuts, no big backing—just hard work, long days, and a drive to do things right. Everything I’ve built has come from showing up, putting in the hours, and taking pride in the work.

Along the way, land and timber investor Keith Herbrand gave me an opportunity and trusted me to jump in an excavator and get to work on his projects. That experience helped me grow not just as an operator, but in understanding the bigger picture of land and development.

What started as a one-man operation has grown steadily over the years, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come—and excited about where we’re going.

BUILT ON VALUES

(And a Team That Shares Them)

From day one, Hagseth Excavating has been rooted in hard work, honesty, and pride in doing things the right way. As we’ve grown, we’ve been intentional about hiring people who share those same values. We look for individuals who care about craftsmanship, who respect the land they work on, and who show up ready to put in the effort every single day.

Our team is made up of people who take ownership, who treat customers like neighbors, and who understand that reputation is earned one job at a time. The same grit and discipline that fueled Brad's racing career now fuels our crew — and it’s a big part of why we’ve become the company we are today.
